Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ) Level 2 Certificates in Fitness Instructing are particularly relevant if you:

• Wish to begin a career in the fitness industry but have no previous experience.
• Are currently working within the fitness industry with no qualifications.
• Enjoy practical based activity.
• Are an exercise and fitness enthusiast wishing to become a teacher.
• Enjoy working with others.
• Age 18 or over.

You will learn:

• Planning and teaching safe, effective and progressive exercise sessions.
• The principles of training.
• Adapting exercise to suit varied fitness levels.
• Using a range of teaching skills.
• The body and its response to exercise.
• Promoting physical activity

To qualify as a Fitness Instructor you will need to successfully complete the following modules:

• Theory of bones and joints
• Muscles and muscle actions
• Lungs and circulation
• Energy systems
• Fitness principles (multiple choice theory paper)

Plus one or more (45-60 minutes practical) of the following options:

• Gym (resistance training and cardiovascular machines 90 mins)
• Exercise to Music (aerobics)
• Circuit Training
• Step
• Aqua (water based exercise)
• Kid
